The POSIE study is exploring how children are supported when someone important to them is dying on the adult intensive care unit.

Our research is focused on improving bereavement support in adult intensive care units by making it more responsive to the unique needs of grieving children. We’re working closely with bereaved children, parents, and ICU healthcare professionals to understand what helps, what doesn’t, and how support can be made more meaningful for children and those who care for them. Together, we’re co-designing practical, child-centred recommendations and resources to support children - and those who care for them - through the death of an important adult in the ICU.
