POSIE-2 : Listening to children and parents with lived experience
The POSIE-2 study aims to understand what it is like for a child to lose an important adulton the intensive care unit — as seen through the eyes of both the child and their parent. This study explores how children and their primary caregivers experience bereavement on the adult ICU and how they are supported during this critical time.
By listening to children and parents, we aim to:
👥 Explore what children and their parents find most helpful when faced with the loss of an important adult on the ICU - what truly matters to them during this time.
👥 Give voice to the emotional impact of ICU bereavement on children, by listening to their experiences and those of their parents.
👥 Use these real-life insights to shape professional guidelines, staff training, and support systems - so that adult ICU teams are better equipped to meet the needs of grieving children and the parents caring for them.
We plan to launch the POSIE-2 study following the completion of POSIE-1. More information will be shared as the study gets underway. Thank you for your interest and support.
